A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"If you're like me, this is a perfect restaurant for you. The Japanese barbecue is very similar to your Korean barbecue but it has different types of meats. We ordered the C-section of the menu and which gives you all of the Kobe beef dishes. We ordered all of the Kobe selections and they were all delicious. You have many different restaurant choices in Las Vegas for Korean barbecue and Japanese barbecue but you have to try 888 Japanese BBQ because I believe it is worth it. The service was fantastic, the food came out fast, the only thing I miss from the Korean BBQ compared to Japanese barbecue are the sides that you get at a Korean BBQ. We definitely enjoyed all of what we had ordered, including some of the sushi was pretty decent as well. They only have rolls, not the Nigiri sushi. Keep in mind when you make a reservation you are will be notified by text message when your table is ready and you have 5 minutes to comply to the text message in person or you will lose your spot. You can make a call to the restaurant to be on the waiting list but you must be present when they text you."
"Great Japanese BBQ spot in Las Vegas. The food is consistently delicious and there are many options to choose from. The staff are friendly and the service is always attentive and efficient. We’ve been here many times already, and it has become one of our favorite restaurants in the city. Every time we visit Vegas, we always make sure to stop by and enjoy a meal here."
"FINALLY got a table after living here for a decade and only going to the other 2 spots. I’m suggestion is to go week days before 1pm if possible. If you go Friday-Saturday expect long waits especially at night. No reservations but wait list option through yelp! If you check in with yelp you get a free ice cream too! I really love eating here. Truly is the best place out of the 3 in my opinion considering the abundance of options Can’t wait to go back"
"Prices are very reasonable and the meat quality is superb. I recommend the Prime (middle or B) AYCE. The meat is definitely better than their ramen or sushi, but the snow crab and the salmon carpaccio were great. The service was amazing and the nigori sampler was great. I recommend the original or the matcha. The grill has ventilations around the edges making sure that most of the smoke is vented away."
"Even on one of the busiest roads in Vegas during the post-work rush, 888 Japanese BBQ is absolutely worth the trip. We went as a party of two and only waited a couple of minutes for a table, which was a great start. The service was lightning-fast, and our server was incredibly nice, giving us the perfect recommendations on what to order. If you’re going, get the most premium All-You-Can-Eat package. It’s the only way to go because you get the absolute best of the best they have to offer. As a huge fan of Bulgogi, I can tell you the quality here is top-tier. It’s the perfect spot for anyone looking for 90 minutes of great food, cooking, and fun. Pro tip: Definitely save room for the strawberry ice cream at the end. I could barely finish everything we ordered, but it was so good I managed to get through it all. Mmmm, already planning the trip back! Highly recommend"
"We’ve been to 888 Japanese BBQ a few times now, and it’s always awesome. They don’t take reservations, but you can join the waitlist on Yelp or Google. Lunch is usually the best time to go if you want a shorter wait, dinner can get pretty busy. As soon as we walked in, the smell of BBQ hit us and made us even hungrier! The menu has A, B, and C options; A is basic, B adds a few premium cuts, and C is the top-tier meats like Kobe beef, Kobe beef belly, and marinated prime Kalbi. Of course we went with C, and it did not disappoint, everything was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The sides are great too, from shrimp tempura and seaweed salad to ramen and soups. Drinks include everything from soft drinks to beers and cocktails. Our server was super friendly and helpful, and our orders came out quickly, which was a big plus! Definitely a spot we’ll keep coming back to!"
"Great service here. Every time we ordered, they came out fast which was nice since you do have a time limit. All the meats were soo good and we were obsessed with the cabbage appetizer. I wouldn’t recommend the cocktails as the ones we got were very sweet and syrupy and did not seem to have alcohol but you can’t go wrong with their ice cold pitchers of beer and sake."
"888 Japanese BBQ in Las Vegas is one of those places that’s absolutely worth trying, but you need to go in with a game plan. The $45 Option C sounds tempting, but honestly wasn’t worth it. The “premium” meats are limited in how many you can order, which totally kills the vibe. Option B is the move; you still get plenty of great cuts without the restrictions. The Yelp check-in situation is its own mini-game. Sometimes they don’t turn on the online waitlist until after they seat the first wave, so even if wait, you may end up with a one-hour-plus wait. Once you’re in, though, the service is great. The wait staff is super attentive, although the hostess could be nicer. The servings and cuts of meat are small, so order higher quantities up front since you’re only allowed five different items per menu section at a time. S’mores dessert included. On the plus side, grilling is a joy here; the built-in smoke vacuum is clutch and you won’t leave smelling like a yakiniku campfire."
